Saltroot
(NEEDS UPDATE)
The Saltroot Tree is a gnarled, root-tangled tree that grows in brackish coastal shallows. Its roots filter salt, exuding crystals at the waterline. Its leaves are oval-shaped, thick, leathery, and blue-green, with salty, fibrous fruit pods - known as Saltpomes - that can be chewed for hydration. Saltpome blossoms are tiny, white, salt-dusted flowers with little to no fragrance. Sea birds love Saltpomes, their guano fertilizing the tree. The hydrating Saltpomes are chewed year-round by coastal fels, but are most juicy after the rains of Vernal.
